HOW MANY PLANTS DO I NEED?
Garden Borders, Garden
Edging, Pathway Edging
If you are Planting Dwarf Mondo Grass as a Border, most clients work on 30 to 40 plants per lineal metre
If your border measures 10 lineal metres, and you decided on
30 Dwarf Mondo Grass plants per lineal metre, you would
10 metres x 30 plants = 300 plants = $196.00 including postage
If you decided on 40 plants per lineal metre you would
10 metres x 40 plants = 400 plants = $258.00 including postage
(Based on 75mm width)
Pavers, Stepping Stones,
If you are Planting Dwarf Mondo Grass Between Pavers, most clients work on 30 to 40 plants per lineal metre, based on a 75 mm gap between the pavers.
With pavers you need to add up the total length of all the
rows in between the pavers.
Similarly, if the total length of all the rows came to 30 metres and you decided on 30 plants per lineal metre, you would require:
30 metres x 30 plants = 900 plants = $580.00 including postage
If you decided on 40 plants per lineal metre you would
30 metres x 40 plants = 1200 plants = $770.00 including postage
(Based on 75mm width)
If you happened to buy the Dwarf Mondo Trays you could then simply add the Dwarf Mondo Grass Strips into the gaps of your pavers

WHAT IS DWARF MONDO?
Mondo Grass, also known as Mini
Mondo Grass, Miniature
Mondo Grass and Dwarf
Lilyturf is a species of Ophiopogon native to Japan
and loved in Australia due to its Drought Resistance.
It is a hardy plant with shiny dark green leaves that will tolerate very dry conditions, thrives in most soil types and is frost tolerant. You can grow Dwarf Mondo in both Full Sun or Full Shade.
Mondo Grass is normally grown as an ornamental grass and makes an excellent ground cover. You will receive Dwarf Mondo Plants similar to the plants in the image at left. Mondo Grass will flourish in very sunny locations or in full shade; tolerate poor soils, over watering or over fertilizing. It multiplies rapidly to form a dense, dark green border. It also looks fabulous planted en-masse in your garden.
If you are not a gardener then
Dwarf Mondo is the plant for you - it needs virtually no
maintenance and will multiply quickly to form a beautiful
mondo grass border. Its speed of growth means it is the gift
that keeps on giving.
It grows to approximately 75mm (3") tall and makes a very trendy Landscape Grass as it can be planted around pavers, concrete tiles and slabs or in rockeries to soften the sometimes harsh appearance of these structures.
You will receive fully established,
mature sized Dwarf Mondo Grass Plants, similar to those shown
in the picture above.
They will be sent bare rooted, with a little soil, to keep postage costs down to a minimum. (Free Express Post Australia-Wide) They will be ready to plant as soon as you receive them. Water your Mondo Grass each day for a week or two after you have planted them.
Dwarf Mondo or Mini Mondo is ideal for planting between Pavers.
There are many types of Pavers out there including Bluestone Pavers,Travertine Pavers, Stone Pavers, Sandstone Pavers, Granite Concrete Pavers and Brick Pavers.
As well as the word 'Pavers', there are also many other terms used including Steppers, Crazy Pavers, Flagstone, Mosaic Pathway, Curbstone Pavers, Cobblestones and Paving Stones
Dwarf Mondo Grass will thrive in a range of soils but to keep them looking their Dark Green / Shiny best, try to water them at least every three or four days during any really hot or dry periods.
Whether you call them Dwarf Mondo Grass, Mini Mondo Grass or even Dwarf Lilyturf, you can be sure that this plant will survive the toughest of climates and prove its value as Australia's perfect groundcover.
Your Dwarf Mondo Grass is Express posted, normally the next, free of charge.
We sell Dwarf Mondo Wholesale and Retail, hence no quantity is too large nor too small.
Please note: We prefer to post our Grasses on Mondays & Tuesdays, unless you request otherwise.
WA / TAS / NT and overseas....due to quarantine laws we will not be able to post these plants to you.

Our Ornamental Grasses
Both Zoysia tenuifolia and Ophiopogon Japonicus Nana have many 'Common Names' which has made it difficult to establish which plant to purchase, until now that is!
What is Zoysia Tenuifolia?
Here is an article written in the Sydney Morning Herald ▶▶ Zoysia Makes a Brilliant Green Nomow Lawn. Written by Robin Powell, this article sings the praises of Zoysia Tenuifolia. Robin describes Zoysia and mentions Tranquil Havens and my good self:
gardener Graeme Fraser saw it there (Hunter Valley
Gardens) in 2009 and loved its free-form, free-flowing
look. So when he found it impossible to buy for his own
garden, he made a ‘‘note to self: business opportunity".
He launched Tranquil Havens (tranquilhavens.com.au), an online nursery selling Dwarf Mondo and Zoysia, his true love, by mail-order. Graeme says his success, despite his lack of horticultural experience, is a guarantee to other gardeners of the plant’s adaptability. It grows in sun and shade, only complains if left in soggy soil, and is not particularly expensive.
"If you fancy a brilliant emerald green lawn that doesn’t need mowing, mossy-looking landscapes without the challenge of growing moss, and softness so alluring you can’t keep your hands off it, meet Zoysia tenuifolia. It is the plant set to become this decade’s mondo grass." Robin Powell - Sydney Morning Herald
Zoysia Tenuifolia is native to Asia, and is named after botanist Karl Von Zois. A warm-season grass, its deep root system allows it to tolerate drought better than many other turf grasses. It is also tolerant of shade, cold and foot traffic.
